Brig. (Retd.) Harcharan Singh, Director Sainik Welfare (DSW), Jammu, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan. The DSW briefed the Governor about the various ongoing schemes, including the preparation of new target oriented programmes, for promoting the welfare of all serving personnel and ex-Servicemen who belong to J&K.The Governor re-iterated the need for launching various initiatives for reaching out to the ex-Servicemen families living in remote areas and assisting them to resolve their problems. He advised Brig. Singh to particularly focus on the families of non-pensioner ex-Servicemen and side, by side, launch practical programmes for the decorated ex-Servicemen, particularly JCOs, to be enabled to visit schools to talk to the students and make them aware of the vital importance of the responsibilities discharged by the Armed Forces, under very difficult circumstances.
