Three militants and a soldier killed in twin gun fights in North Kashmir

On Tuesday morning, Government Forces killed three militants belonging to militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba in Magam Handwara area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. After receiving specific information about the presence of the militants in Kharmohalla, a joint operation was conducted by the CRPF, J&K Police and the Indian Army.We started operations at midnight on specific information of terrorists hiding. Militants, who were hiding in a house, were asked to surrender but they kept firing. Three Pakistani LeT militants were killed, and arms and ammunition recovered," IGP Kashmir Munir Khan told media.akistan is trying hard to push as many militants as they can across LoC and anytime snowfall will start. So, this is the time we should be very alert," Khan added. Following the encounter, DGP J&K Police SP Vaid congratulated the security forces on Twitter.

Meanwhile,  a Para-military commando was killed in the ongoing gunfight between government forces and the militants in Zurhama forests of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Reports said that an Army soldier has also been injured. Police sources said that after the inputs about the presence of militants in forest area Government Forces cordoned off Gujarpati and Zurhama areas. The militants reportedly opened fire upon the search party, triggering encounter.A police official said that combined forces including Army's 23 Para commandos, 160 TA, SOG and CRPF engaged the militants and a vast forest area has been sealed and search operation is going on.
