The 8th month of Capt. Amarinder Singh’s government was very much alike the previous months- full of betrayal and disappointment. We are unable to comprehend as to what to focus upon as every section is facing problems in the state and all are disenchanted with the present government. However, Punjab’s three departments- health, local bodies and education, stand apart as their ineptness has added to the woes of the people. This was stated by Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party vice-president Harjit Singh Grewal and Punjab BJP secretary Vineet Joshi here today while releasing the report card of Captain’s 8-month-rule.The BJP leaders said,“The local bodies minister Navjot Sidhufailed to tackle the problem of Dengue in Punjab which had acquired epidemic proportions. Majority of the urban areas in the state were affected by Dengue and many people lost their lives owing to the negligence of the department. The cities and towns are needed to be kept clean and fogging is necessary to kill the mosquitoes. But local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu failed to ensure this. The health minister Brahm Mohindra  was very much aware of the fact that Dengue epidemic spreads in the month of October, but no prior arrangements were made in hospitals.

The hospitals were deal with the ever increasing number of dengue cases and the patients were forced to conduct tests in private hospitals. The hospitals were unclean with mosquitoes breeding in them”.Continuing, they said, “Even after half of the session has passed by, the Education Department has been unable to provide uniforms to around 8 lakh middle and senior secondary students across the stated. Instead, the mid-day meal meant to provide nutritious food to 18 lakh schoolchildren is almost shut down.  The government has started Nursery, LKG and UKG classes in the state without putting necessary infrastructure in place, especially during this time of winters, leading to hardship for toddlers. The students are facing all types of problems, but education minister Aruna Chaudhary is busy somewhere else”.Speaking on the issue of farmers’ suicides, the BJP leaders said, “323 farmers have committed suicide in the state due to non-fulfillment of the promise of full farm loan waiver.

Farmers in the state are facing all sorts of problems. The farmers stopped paying back the loans since December 2016, 92778 farmers have been declared defaulters and co-operative societies, which provide credit to farmers in form of seeds and fertilizers, have been unable to provide salaries to their  7000 employees since the last 6 months and have stopped providing credit to defaulting farmers.  Sugarcane farmers haven’t got their dues, or the SAP. Nobody knows where the fund released by the Centre for crop residue management has been utilized and the farmers of Punjab are being blamed for pollution”.The way CM Punjab Captain Amarinder is silent on the issue of GM mining Tehal singh Sekhon's thrashing by sand mafia, it clearly substantiate the involvement of local Congress MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur. However, the BJP leaders congratulated the Chief Minister and the Punjab police for nabbing the persons responsible for the target killing of many RSS activists, social and religious leaders. “This is the only job which deserves appreciation during the last 8 months”, they said.
