CGC Jhanjeri students shine in PTU’s Inter College Kabaddi & Physique Tournament

The students of Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjeri added yet another feather in their cap when they defeated a number of colleges in PTU’s Inter College Kabaddi Tournament. As many as 15 colleges took part in this competition. Although the students of CGC Jhanjeri took part in the tournament of this game for the first time, yet they gave an excellent performance. In the first round, the CGC Jhanjeri defeated IKG PTU campus by a huge margin of 51 – 17. Then they won over IKG Hoshiarpur College by 48 – 35. However, being freshers, the team lost their semifinal by a narrow margin of 45 – 46 and bagged 3rd position by defeating IET Bhaddal by 43 – 17. Apart from winning bronze medal, three students of CGC Jhanjeri, Archit Rana, Vikas Thakur & Shivam Kumar won another honour when they were selected in PTU’s University Team for playing Inter University Kabaddi Tournaments.

The students also  took part in Weight Lifting, Power Lifting & Best Physique . In Weight Lifting, 65 Kg category, Gurkirat Singh captured first position by lifting a weight of 165 kg. While Yawar Nazir and Sher Singh bagged first positions in Best Physique, 60 kg category and 85 kg category respectively. In power lifting, Preetinder Singh stood second by lifting a total weight of 460kg. With three gold & one silver medals, the team of CGC Jhanjeri was awarded overall Runners Up Trophy of this Tournament 13 participated colleges .Speaking on the occasion, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC congratulated all the students and their coach for this marvelous achievement. Dr. G.D.Bansal, Director Genral said that all the facilities are provided in this campus to motivate the students to take part in different games and improve their talent by doing regular practice.
