Thousands of people amid restrictions participated in the last rites of local slain militant at Parimpora area of Srinagar city.   Mugees Ahmed Mir was killed in a brief gun fight at Zakura area in the outskirts of Srinagar city yesterday.  Reports said that thousands of people assembled at Parimpora to participate in the funeral procession of the Mir. Women were seen wailing and showering confectionaries and flower petals on the body that was placed in a lorry. The slain militant was laid to rest amid pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans.  Meanwhile, life was disrupted in parts of Srinagar city due to restrictions imposed by authorities in areas falling under the jurisdiction of police station Safakadal, Khanyar, Rainawari, Nowhatta, Parimpora, Maisuma and Kralkhud.Heavy contingent of government forces personnel were deployed in restive parts of Srinagar city while concertina wire  Parimpora road was sealed by police while all the vehicles coming from North Kashmir were diverted to Bemina Bypass.Train service was also suspended across Kashmir Valley. A Railway official said that service was suspended as a precautionary measure.Class work at Kashmir University was suspended; however, class 10th and 12th examinations were conducted as per schedule.
