DDC Baramulla discusses B’la- Babareshi road construction modalities

District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmd Naqash today chaired a meeting of officers here to discuss the modalities for the construction of a road from Baramulla to Babareshi.The project undertaken by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is a part of the centrally sponsored ‘Bharatmala Project’. The umbrella project by the Central Government with the purpose to develop road infrastructure in the country especially in border areas is to be executed by National highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCN).Speaking on the occasion, MLA Baramulla Javeed Hasan Beigh highlighted the significance of the road and said that the project besides curtailing distance between the two destinations will boost the tourism sector, foster domestic trade and will generate employment opportunities to the unemployed youth of the area. He said that the construction of the road was the Chief Minister’s commitment which will also put the district on the tourism map.District Development Commissioner stressed upon the concerned for timely initiation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and other necessary formalities.Moreover, the DDC also sought cooperation from the public in constructing the road and urged them not to create any bottleneck into the way. He assured of providing feasible compensation for property or other structures that may get demolished during the construction process.Engineers of line departments, officers of various departments and other concerned were present on the occasion.
