Rs. 21.5 crore would be saved with energy efficient lights

With an aim to save the electricity, water supply and sanitation minister of the state Tripit Rajinder Singh Bajwa today launched the “Ujala” scheme from Fathegarh Churrian assembly constituency. Under this scheme energy efficient LED lights would be provided to the consumers on affordable rates.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bajwa said that  under this project, more than 10 lakh  LED lights , 10,000 fans and 25,000 tubelights have already been distributed in 10 districts of the state. He also informed that the move would reduce the electricity bill worth Rs. 21.5 crore annually.  It may be mentioned here that the scheme is launched in the district Gurdaspur and LED lights would be provided only for Rs. 70 per light against the Rs. 220 in  the market. 

Lauding the vision of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who has launched the scheme on January 5, 2013 across the nation, he said that it was the result  of that scheme that nearly  Rs. 1000  have been saved after its launch .  He said that the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has ordered to implement the scheme for all districts of the state and the Punjab Government would also provide free lights to weaker sections of the society.Manager of the EESL company, Mr. Nitin Bhatt said the company have already provided 27 crore lights in the country and now the remaining district of the Punjab would be covered under this.
