Hours after her flop show at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday said her party will be contesting the Lok Sabha election alone. The much publicised joint rally of Anna Hazare and the Trinamool Congress chief ended with the former keeping away and organisers admitting that the crowd turnout was poor.Sunita Godara, an aide of Hazare, said he was indisposed."Anna is in very bad health. He has congestion... A rally needs elaborate preparation. It has to be organised on a holiday, in the evening, and after proper canvassing. The heat is too much today (Wednesday). Anna would have gone if there were 10,000 people at the rally," Godara said.

Banerjee, who was the only speaker, appealed to the people to radically change the country's political system."There is a dangerous trend of two big political parties along with some other groups setting up a syndicate to serve their own interests... "This sort of outlook is detrimental to the interests of the people and (affects) the democratic institutions."She said she was aware of her "limitations. Still, we are fighting the (Lok Sabha) battle alone."
