No decision yet on alliance in Andhra, says Rajnath

The BJP has not yet taken a decision on alliance with any political party in Andhra Pradesh, its chief Rajnath Singh said Tuesday.He told reporters here that alliance with any party in any state is not ruled outto queries if his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was looking for a pact with Telugu Desam Party (TDP)."We have not yet taken taken any decision with regard to alliance in Andhra Pradesh," he said after his arrival here on a day-long visit.The BJP and the TDP have reportedly arrived at a broad consensus and are working for seat sharing for simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh assembly.TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu is already believed to have held talks with BJP top brass including Rajnath Singh.

The BJP president and senior leader Arun Jaitley will be addressing a public meeting here later in the day to celebrate formation of separate Telangana state.Telangana, which is set to become a separate state on June 2, is going to polls on April 30 while elections in Seemandhra (residuary Andhra Pradesh) are scheduled on May 7.In Telangana, BJP leaders are claiming credit for the passage of statehood bill in parliament. The party is also trying to win people's support in Seemandhra by claiming that it ensured a special package for the region. Rajnath, Jaitely and party leader Prakash Javdekar condoled with the family members of former BJP president Bangaru Laxman, who died recently.
