Kiran Choudhry, Leader of the Haryana Congress Legislature Party, has described the decision of the Manohar Lal Khattar Government to revoke the provision of mandatory greenbelts around industrial colonies as “senseless and mindless which smacks of lack of concern for environment” and asked the BJP Government to revoke it forthwith. In a statement issued here today, the former excise and taxation minister said the ill-thought decision of the Town and Country Planning Department would increase the pollution levels in industrial towns and the concession of green/open space within an industrial colony would not help in mitigating the effects of this lungs-choking menace on the health of people. The policy made in January, 2017 provided for a 20 meter-wide green belt around an industrial colony in low and medium potential towns of Haryana. But an amendment warranted by the Enterprises Promotion Policy, 2015, deleted this provision and the TCP order dated October 10, 2017, has dispended with it.“The mindless and senseless TCP order smacks of lack of concern for the environment and should be revoked forthwith”, Mrs Choudhry demanded.
