BSF 173 Battalion organises Half marathon

The  BSF Battallian 173 today organised 'Half Marathon 2017'  at Panjtilla Head Quarter Samba in which 600 individuals from bordering villages of the Samba and Kathua besides Jawans of 80 BN BSF, 173 BN BSF and 97 BN BSF participated.The 10 km marathon was organised with the message of  "Run for Martyrs" ,  "Run for Public Connect" and "Run for Unity".MLA Samba Dr. Davinder Kumar Manyal flagged off the march.Deputy Commissioner, Samba Sheetal Nanda, DSP Head Quarter Samba Tanveer Ahmed, Bhupinder Singh Commandant 97 BN BSF, Madan  Lal  Commandant 80 BN BSF , B.C. Joshi second in command  173 Battallian BSF, Ajay Kumar Regional Manager SBI, Police Officials, BSF Officials and locals were present on the occasion.Dr. Manyal said that this Marathon was organised in memory of the Martyrs adding that such events strenghtens the bonding between the civilians and the security forces. He informed that the District Administration Samba is going to organise a Run for Unity Marathon on 31st Of October and appealed for maximum participation.Bhupinder Singh informed that the event was organised in memory of our brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation. He assured that BSF shall organise similar events on regular basis.The first winner Ramesh Chand was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 5000, second winner Gurunam Singh Rs. 3000 and the third winner Deepak Sharma got a cash prize of Rs. 2000 besides other participants were given certificates.
