Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari today said tragic episode of Karbala is a call for empathy and for standing up against injustice. The Minister was addressing a day-long congregation at Chanabal Pattan organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association to remember the great sacrifices of Imam Hussain (AS) and his pious companions in Karbala. While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the spirit of Imam Hussain (AS) lives on forever in the human conscience, the way he lived and the way he died shows us the value he placed on morality and honour. He (exalted Imam) taught us the true purpose of our existence and the perfection of our morals and ethics, the Minister added. Moreover, Imam Hussain (AS) is a role model for humanity as he fought for justice and struggle to save the religion from falling into the hands of an incapable, indulgent, unjust ruler who lacked intellect, piety, character and empathy to lead the Muslim Ummah.“Imam Hussain (RA) stood for people’s rights and to protect Islam. He taught us to always stand up for what is truly ours, he taught us to stand for justice, humanity and never remain silent in the face of injustice.Earlier, the convention started with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the elegies by prominent zakirs.Later, a procession was also carried out having standards (alam) to remember the torch bearers of Imam Hussain’s (AS) army. Women and children also accompanied the procession in groups to pay tribute to martyrs of Karbala. The procession culminated at Hussaini Park Kakerpora Mirgund.
