Governor advises the Youth to use their knowledge and education to address social issues and payback to society

746 degrees awarded during the 2nd Annual Convocation of Chandigarh University

"You are the future of New India and now the time has come to repay back to the society in the form of new ideas and technologies that you will develop to address the National & Local issues using the education & knowledge that you have accumulated" said Punjab Governor & UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore. He was speaking at the 2nd Annual convocation of Chandigarh University, Gharuan where he conferred degrees upon 746 graduate & post-graduate engineering students and also felicitated 15 University toppers with Gold Medals.While delivering his convocation address to the students, Badnore advised the students to choose entrepreneurship rather than looking for jobs. He said "India requires job providers rather than job seekers and with the government encouraging youth to come forward with new ideas, it is high time that universities in the country should prepare the next generation entrepreneurs for India". The Punjab Governor said convocation marks an important day in the lives of students as it is a significant milestone in their journey. He said it was a moment of pride for them as much as it was for their teachers, parents and those who had played a prominent role in shaping their lives.Governor advised the University to create an endowment fund where alumni could contribute through money and other resources that can be utilized to provide new research opportunities to the next batch of the students.Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chancellor Chandigarh University said “We are committed to churn out not only professionals for the Industry but good human beings who can become asset for the society and can contribute richly with their experience and knowledge". He further added that," It is easy for Universities to produce just the degree holders but it is difficult to make students employable and we at Chandigarh University are delighted to be successful in this endeavor”. Dr. R.S. Bawa Vice- Chancellor and Dr. B.S. Sohi, Pro V.C were present on the occasion.
