In order to review the implementation of decisions taken in the 174th State Managing Committee of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), J&K Chapter relating to the Department of Health & Medical Education, Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today convened a meeting of concerned officers in his office chamber here.Principal Secretary Health & Medical Education, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, General Secretary, IRCS, M.S. Rather, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Principals Government Dental Colleges, Jammu/Srinagar, Dr. Romesh Singh and Dr. Riyaz Farooq and other concerned officers of the Health & Medical Education were present in the meeting.The issues which came under discussion included, establishment of Blood Banks at regional level in Jammu/Srinagar, opening of Jan Aushadhi outlets in all district hospitals, sub-district hospitals and primary health centres across the State, absorption of Family Welfare Units at Regional Red Cross Committee, Jammu/Srinagar in the health department and release of funds for staff of family welfare units, upgradation of Pathological Laboratory at Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu and deputation of a Pathologist and setting up of Mobile Dental Health Care services in Red Cross by the Health Department,

The status of flagged issues was thoroughly discussed and Minister directed the concerned to expedite their implementation on ground so that the benefits of these services reach to the needy. He urged the Principal Secretary, Health & Medical Education to personally monitor the progress of implementation of these decisions and keep apprising the IRCS about the progress.Besides, the Minister also discussed several other important issues relating to the functioning of the Health & Medical Education Department, vis-à-vis selection of various referred posts of doctors and faculty to the  Public Service Commission, transfer policy, administrative reforms, scenario of health services in rural and far-flung areas, position of staff, availability of medicines and diagnostic facilities.The Minister issued necessary instructions to the Principal Secretary to take up the issue with the Chairman, JKPSC for expeditious selection of all referred posts of doctors. He also directed for strict implementation of transfer policy for all categories of employees, adding that no employee should stay at one place more than five years. He directed for issuing the fresh circular instructions to all controlling officers for strict adherence of the same.
