H.P. State Legal Services Authority with an idea to apprise society about different facets of Indian Constitution, organized Lecture on “Different Facets of Indian Constitution” at HP High Court today. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, Judge Supreme Court of India, inaugurated the event.In his inaugural address, Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel  said Shimla was city of great attraction and praised the residents of the state for simplicity.He said that H.P. State Legal Services Authority was rendering great service to provide access to justice for all. While making special reference to the concluding speech delivered by Dr. B R Ambedker in the Constituent Assembly, Justice Goel said that Dr. Ambedker was greatest Jurist. He said that the ultimate aim of the adoption of Constitution was to secure justice for all which is enshrined in the preamble of the Constitution, soul of the Constitution of India.Talking about the ‘Rule of Law’, Justice Goel said that we come across so many incidents in great epics Mahabharta and Ramayana that show as to how the rule of law was being maintained in the society at that time. He said that in every age there were well-defined sets of laws for the good governance in India. Justice Goel said that during British rule in India there was so called rule of law, but no Justice to the common people. He said the first and foremost duty of the State is welfare of its people and secure justice for all which was guiding spirit of the Constitution.  

He said there was a debate among the great Jurists in the Constituent Assembly that how the principals of equality, liberty and fraternity achieved and how justice could be secured for all. He also appealed to students that they must not follow or treat any individual as hero rather understand and follow the true spirit of the Constitution. He appreciated the initiative of HP State Legal Services Authority for organizing this Lecture Series.In his welcome address,  Justice Sanjay Karol, Acting Chief Justice HP High Court said that Justice Goel was a great Scholar, Jurist  known for his Simplicity. He has given many landmark judgments taking into consideration the ground realities.Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Justice Sureshwar Thakur,   Justice Vivek Singh Thakur,  Justice Ajay Mohan Goel,  Justice Sandeep Sharma, Justice Chander Bhusan Barowalia, Judges of HP High Court, Former Judges, Sh. V.K. Sharma, Chairman, H.P. Administrative Tribunal, Sh. P.S.Rana, President State Consumer Commission,  Assistant Solicitor General of India were also present on the occasion among others.President H.P. High Court Bar Association, Senior Advocates and Bar Members, Law Secretary, Registrar HP High Court, Member Secretary and Administrative Officer, Himachal Pradesh Legal Services Authority, Director, Deputy Director Judicial Academy, 300 Law Students and Teaching Faculty from various Law Universities also attended the lecture.
