Governor Acharya Devvrat said that 'defecation' had been described as one of the five elements in our religion under which our sages have spoken about external and internal hygiene and therefore cleanliness was very important in life, he added.The Governor was speaking on the occasion of allocution on "Kaliya Mardan Avam Swachhagreh" organized by National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra in association with Vidya Bharti Sanskriti Shiksha Sansthan and Raggiri at NIT, Kurukshetra on Tuesday evening.He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has launched the cleanliness campaign for the dignity of the country and building a healthy society, especially taking into consideration the problems being faced by rural women. It was the responsibility of civil society that we sincerely contemplate it and contribute to clean the country, said the Governor.
The Governor honoured Padam Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh, who is one of the nine Navratanas (Brand Ambassadors) included in cleanliness drive launched by Prime Minister. Dr. Sonal Mansingh also spoke on the occasion and said that morality was the cleanliness. She also described the significance of purity in everyday life through the sight of religion.Padamshree Dr. Satish Kumar, Director, NIT briefed about various activities of the institute in cleanliness activities during the year.Shri Shivendra Kumar, Sanchalak, Raggiri said that their organization was also involved in various awareness programme including cleanliness drive.Dr. Ramendra Singh, Director, Vidya Bharti Sanskriti Shiksha Sansthan apprised about the involvement of their Institute in cleanliness drive.Prof. Sat Hans, Dean, Student Welfare, NIT welcomed the Governor and detailed about the programme.Artists of Shri Kamakhya Kalapeeth also performed on the occasion.
