A meeting of District Level Review Committee (DLRC) and District Consultative Committee (DCC) was held here today under the chairmanship of Member Legislative Assembly, Bashir Ahmad Dar and District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jehangir to review the progress achieved in the first quarter of 2017-18.Lead District Manager (LDM), Cluster head, Heads of financial institutions, sponsoring and implementing partners, representatives of SBI, NABARD and other concerned attended the meeting.It was given out that the financial institutions operating in the district conducted 37 FLCs and 100 FL camps which was attended by 9470 participants, while as JKB RSETI Kupwara imparted training to 41 candidates in two batches under PMEGP and 12 awareness camps were conducted during the first quarter.From June 2012, around 13 financial literacy camps were organized by the FLCC Kupwara in collaboration with other financial institutions in which 1010 persons participated in which farmers, students, weavers were informed about different schemes and programmes of State, Central Government, and financial institutions.The meeting was apprised about performance of banks in key areas relating to deposits, advances and other sectors. It was said that Rs 1968 crore under deposits, Rs 1329 crore as advanced, Rs 823 crore as priority sector advances, Rs 380 crore as agriculture advances, Rs 84 crore as advances to womenfolk, Rs 2 crore as DRI advances and CD ratio at 68 percent was recorded.

Under joint liability groups scheme for landless farmers, launched on October 2014 through NABARD.  JLGs have been allocated to the operating banks during the first quarter which was linked with the banks and Rs 9 lakh were financed to 6 JLGs out of 13 JLGs formed by the banks. While as NABARD in coordination with Sheep Husbandry has launched an area development scheme for sheep, goat rearing for the district to tap the potential of increase in mutton, wool production and generating income to the farmers for the enhancement of population of sheep and goat in the district under JLGs mode and individual mode.  A total of 25 sheep units have been introduced to improve the socio-economic condition of the farmers and landless individuals.Under KCC scheme, as many as 47,887 farm operating families (FOFs) have been approved for loan components during the first quarter with credit exposure of Rs 370 crore in which Rs 344 crore were disbursed among registered 40,465 FOFs. The financial experts provided suggestions and feedback about the achievements during the first quarter besides improving the working of the financial institutions under ACP 2017-18 for achieving the set goals.On the occasion, MLA Kupwara exhorting the concerned agencies for disposing of the pendencies so that more and more income generating units are created in the district to address unemployment and improving socio-economic conditions of people.The DDC impressed upon all the concerned executing, implementing and sponsoring agencies to conduct frequent awareness camps in the district by involving the local legislators so that the general public especially youth of the district are informed about the welfare and developmental schemes launched by the Government.
