In a move towards the digitization of judiciary, the first paperless e-court Srinagar (Wing) in the State was inaugurated today here at High Court Srinagar.The court will start functioning from Monday and will use digitized case records thereby bringing down paper and space required to maintain the records.Chief Justice of J&K High Court, Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed, while inaugurating the e-court project said it will help litigants as well as advocates to know the status of different cases speedily.Justice Durrez thanked Chief Secretary, B B Vyas for the quick response and providing timely funds for the completion of the project; which took only four months to accomplish.The e-court would provide an electronic case list (e-case list) before the presiding judge to make digital noting on a computer that has electronic case records. The case records and notings would be synchronized in the available database.“It is the memorable and historic day in the State when the whole world is digitized we are not now behind digital revolution,” Justice Durrez said.“Digitization of records will help to keep our records up to date as well as the records will not vanish because of natural disasters like we witnessed earlier in 2014 floods," he said.On the occasion, Justice Alok Aradhe, informed the participants that 3.25 crore of pages are in progress to be digitized.Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey presented the vote of thanks at the end of the function.The function was attended by Justice M K Hanjura, Chief Secretary B.B. Vyas, DGP, S P Vaid, Principal Secretary Finance, Navin Choudhary, other officials and lawyers.
