The Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP alliance urged the Election Commission of India to immediate shift police officers including DSPs and SHOs posted in Gurdaspur Parliamentary Constituency who were instrumental in registration of false cases against Akali Dal leaders. A high level delegation of the alliance today met the Election Commission of India led by BJP state President and Union Minister of State Vijay Sampla and included Balwinder Singh Bhunder MP, Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra MP, Shwet Malik MP, Naresh Gujral MP, Ashwani Kumar former state President BJP and Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema former cabinet minister and Secretary and Spokesman SAD.The delegation apprised the commission of the prevailing circumstances in the constituency and mala fide intentions of the ruling Congress party to grab this seat with evil designs. It briefed the Commission on how attempts are being made by Congress party to harass the leaders of the SAD-BJP alliance by registering false FIRs against them. The delegation brought to the notice of the commission that 27 senior leaders of the SAD have been framed in false cases by name and other 500 workers have been booked as unidentified. These case have been registered with the sole motive and intension that they may detain any person under garb of unidentified persons as referred in the FIRs. They also briefed the Commission about the incident which occurred at Gurdwara Chhota Ghallughara and how the police registered FIR No. 58dated 20.08.2017 at police station Tibber District Gurdaspur and another FIR No 57 dated 21.08.2017 at police station Bhaini Mian KhanDistrict Gurdaspur. In both these FIRs several senior leaders were framed including district President of Shiromani Akali Dal and formerminister, S. Sucha Singh Langah, former minister S. Sewa Singh Sekhwan, Sh. Des Raj Dhuga Former Chief parliament Secretary and S. Sukhbir Singh Walha, Chairman Sugar fed Punjab and other prominent workers of party. The delegation also urged the Commission to summon records of thesecases from the DGP to examine the legal genuineness of these FIRs and appealed to the commission to direct the state Home department not toarrest anybody on the basis of these FIRs till the election process is over. It hoped that the commission will act fast in the matter in the interest of justice, fair play and free election and ensure rule of law and free and fair elections in the ensuing Gurdaspur Parliament Bye election.
