The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Sajjad Hussain today flagged off a mega-rally comprising of Government employees, school children and media persons to inaugurate Nationwide Sanitation Campaign 'Swachhta He Seva' at Mini Secretariat premises, Bandipora.
The rally headed by the DDC traversed two-kilometer distance through various markets and it culminated at S K Sports Stadium Bandipora.SSP Bandipora, all Sectoral and District Officers participated in the event, besides employees, school children and other common people.Speaking at the occasion, the DDC exhorted upon all Officers and officials to vigorously take part in the nationwide sanitation campaign as volunteers."Since we all believe that cleanliness is godliness, we all should maintain and monitor cleanliness in and around our offices, hospitals, schools, bus stands, religious and public places", the DDC said, adding that all departments have chalked out their own calendar of activities and have adopted two villages each. He said during the campaign 21 villages residing at the banks of Wullar Lake will be covered under sanitation programme.Later, the DDC read out a pledge with all participants: “We solemnly resolve to create a clean, healthy and new India and dedicate ourselves to 'Swachhta He Seva' movement starting today which will culminate on Gandhi Jayanti to promote cleanliness in households, schools, colleges, health institutions, bus stops and public places and ensure open defecation free villages and towns and management of Solid and Liquid waste". Deputy Chief Education Officer, also spoke on the occasion.
