SKUAST-J organizes Sankalp Se Siddhi – New India Movement at KVK Reasi

Krishi Vigyan Kendra under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Jammu today organized Sankalp Se Sidhi (Determination to Attainment) – New India Movement (2017-2022) sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.The “Sankalp Se Sidhi” programme is being organised all over the country to make the stakeholder involved in agriculture and allied sectors, including farmers take pledge to put efforts which would lead to doubling of farmers’ income in the next five years. 

Minister of State for Finance and Planning, IT, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affair, CAPD, Tribal Affair, Relief, Rehabilitation & Labour & Employment Ajay Nanda was the chief guest and MLA, Reasi was the guest of honour. DDC Reasi Ravinder Kumar was also present on the occasion.

On the occasion, a video dedicated to farmers was also shown with a message of Prime Minister of India Narinder Modi to the farmers of India.

The Minister elaborated the schemes introduced by the government for the welfare of the farmers and people living in the rural areas. He urged the farmers of Reasi district to avail benefits of the centrally sponsored schemes in agriculture for development of agriculture and allied sectors.

He advised staff of agriculture and allied departments to help farmers to exploit the full potential of resources available for betterment of farming community.District Development Commissioner, Reasi acknowledged the role of KVK in the district and stressed upon the need for coordination among different departments for wider and effective coverage of far flung farmers under different schemes.The programme was attended by more than 400 farmers of Reasi district who took pledge along with the Minister, dignitaries, district officers, farmers and staff of different departments to work for doubling the income of farmers by 2022. Dr. R.K. Arora, Associate Director Extension (KVKs) discussed the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in upliftment of agriculture and rural sector of Reasi district. He informed that University is working hard for development of tribal, poor and weaker section of population of the district through economic benefit and exposure to new agricultural technologies.Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Scientist of KVK Kathua delivered the expert lecture to discuss the schemes like PM Fasal Bima Yojana, PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana and Soil Health Card Scheme introduced by the government for achieving the objective of doubling the farmers’ income.
