The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today demanded immediate registration of a criminal case and arrest of a police station incharge who sexually molested a muslim woman and her daughter at Zirakpur two days back.In a statement here, former minister and SAD spokesperson Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said it was both shocking and shameful that no case had been registered against the Baltana chowki incharge in Zirakpur who beat up, threatened and sexually molested a woman and her daughter when they went to the police chowki on Tuesday evening to look for their relative who had been detained there illegally.Explaining the sequence of events, Dr Cheema said the Muslim woman rushed to the chowki after learning that her son Mobin Khan had been taken there. He said thana officials said her son was not there but when she searched the premises she found him detained in a room. He said when the woman questioned the police personnel as to why they had lied to her the chowki incharge ASI Narinderpal Singh got enraged and started abusing her. “According to her own statement the ASI kicked her repeatedly and molested her besides tearing her salwar and also the suit of her daughter. What happened next has been related by the victim in a video which is available to the government for examination”.

The Akali leader said the State Woman Commission had been apprised of the case. He said the case had also been brought to the notice of the government yesterday but no action has been taken in the matter. “In fact the woman has been subjected to a restraining order to silence her. She is also being forced to compromise with the threat that otherwise her son will be implicated in more cases. This is not expected in a district where the deputy commissioner herself is a woman (Gurpreet Kaur Sapra). Even Mrs Sapra has not deemed it fit to come and console the woman for the barbarity unleashed against her by a demon in uniform”.Dr Cheema said in case the district administration and the police continued to remain unmoved and did not register a criminal case against the accused police official and removed him from his post immediately, the SAD would take up the issue in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. “We will demand formation of a judicial commission to probe the incident so that appropriate action could be taken against the ASI and all other police personnel who colluded in the sexual molestation of the muslim lady and her daughter”, he added.
