Punjab Police’s Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, on Wednesday arrested three alleged terrorists, owing allegiance to Pak based terrorist and Chief of the International Sikh Youth Federation, Lakhbir Singh Rode, from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The alleged terrorists, Balkar Singh, Balwinder Singh, and Satinder Singh Rawat, who were arrested in a joint operation by the Punjab and Madhya Pradesh police, were wanted in connection with the huge seizure of arms, sent by Rode, on the Indo-Pak border on May 21 this year. According to a police spokesperson, the trio had been supplying weapons to terrorists in Punjab and were being funded from abroad. The spokesperson said that the names of these three terrorists, who are presently residing in Gwalior, had emerged during the ongoing investigations into the May 21 arms seizure case. The trio also has links with Brampton (Canada) based Gurjeet Singh Cheema, an erstwhile resident of village Jogi Cheema, Police Station Qadian, District Gurdaspur, whose name had also figured in the seizure of the arms supplied by Rode.

According to investigations, the trio had supplied three pistols to Maan Singh and Gurpreet Singh alias Peet, both resident of Vllage Jeewanwala, District Faridkot, and Simarjit Singh alias Nikka of Village Kamaalpur, (Ludhiana), who were arrested earlier in connection with the May 21 arms seizure. The three pistols have already been recovered from Maan Singh, Gupreet Singh and Simarjit Singh. The spokesperson said that Gurjeet Singh Cheema, who had come to India from Canada earlier this year, had travelled to Gwalior, along with Maan Singh and one other, to collect the pistols, which were to be used in Punjab to carry out attacks on “anti-panthic forces/individuals”. It may be recalled that on May 21, in a joint operation, the BSF and the Punjab Police had busted a terror module with links to Canada and Pakistan and seized a huge cache of arms, including an AK-47 assault rifle, five hand grenades, a modified machine-pistol (MP), five pistols and over 450 rounds of live ammunition of different calibres, near the Indo-Pak border.
