Sadhu Singh Dharmsot, Forest Minister today gave a clarion call for the civil society to plant more trees to preserve environment and for the health life of the citizens. He appealed the public to come forward with missionary zeal and support the efforts of the government for this pious cause of making our surrounding pure and greener.The Minister made this fervent appeal today during the inauguration of the Nursery and Green House at Chandigarh Press Club. He said that the Punjab Government has been striving hard for increasing the forest cover in Punjab. He said that these campaigns would only be successful if the civil society come forward and support the government cause and nurture the plants till they become trees.Forest Minister announced to supply saplings and plants free of cost to the nursery of the club as per their demand.  He said that it is the duty of all and sundry in the society to plant at least one tree in their life time. The Minister also announced financial grant of Rs. 2.50 lakh to the Press Club for procuring Raw Machine to help making compost from the residual material   of kitchen and park of the club.Prominent amongst those present on this occasion included Mr. A.S. Prashar, Chairman, Mr. Jaswant Rana, President, Mr. Birender Rawat, and Secretary of the Press Club along with other office bearer of the club’s executive committee.
