The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today physically paraded the victims of Congress oppression here besides asserting Punjab was descending into jungle raj under the Congress government because its leaders were unleashing terror against people simply because they had exercised their right to democratic franchise.Releasing a list of the false cases to the media at the party head office here, senior SAD leaders Dr Daljit Singh Cheema and Bikram Singh Majithia said there was a clear cut pattern to “punish” people who had voted against the Congress by registering non-bailable cases against them. “Many such cases have come to the notice of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal during his jabar virdohi lehar visit to Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency. But we feel this is a pan-Punjab epidemic. We will not let this conspiracy succeed. We will present the entire list of cases as well as victims before the State police chief today. We expect the State police to act in a non-partisan manner and give justice to the victims and also take action against SHOs who are dancing to the tune of Congress leaders and implicating innocents in false cases. If this is not done we will approach the courts and demand a CBI inquiry into the entire list of politically motivated cases being registered under the Congress regime”.

Giving details, SAD general secretary Bikram Majithia said in Tarn Taran, Congress goons supported by local legislator Ramanjit Sikki had forcibly taken possession of 16 canals of land belonging to an army jawan who was guarding the nation’s frontiers in Jammu and Kashmir. He said even wards of freedom fighters were not being spared with one such boy of Madhir village in Muktsar district being tortured in lock up at the instance of Congress legislator Amarinder Raja Warring. “The only fault of the young boy was that he had given an application detailing how the pond in his village had been encroached by Congress workers”. He said this case and well as others were endemic of the manner in which Congress mlas and constituency incharges were terrorizing their political opponents”. Other SAD leaders as well as the victims of Congress atrocities also narrated their tale of woes. Former minister Suchha Singh Langah said it was shameful that Dera Baba Nanak legislator Sukhi Randhawa was demanding proof of atrocities when 21 false and politically motivated non-bailable cases, including seven attempt to murder cases, had been registered in the constituency. He gave the example of an attempt to murder case (section 307 IPC) being registered against an entire family including lady members in a case in which no injury had been inflicted to any one in Talwandi Rama village. He said similarly Block Samiti member Suchha Singh Mamam and his son had been implicated in a murder case (section 302) despite the fact that he was not even named in the original FIR registered in this matter. Another person Balraj Singh had been implicated in three cases, including one in which he is accused of robbing a dog, he added.

In Gurdaspur victims disclosed how one Pargat Singh committed suicide and mentioned in his suicide letter that he was taking this dire step because of threats from Gurmeet Singh Pahra, father of Congress legislator Barinderjeet Singh Pahra. They said despite this no action had been taken against Pahra. Another victim family disclosed how no case was being registered in a Rs 6 lakh robbery case from the car of Harvinder Singh Happy despite the existence of CCTV footage at the instance of the Congress legislator. In yet another case Amarjyot Singh, son of former SAD legislator Gurbachan Singh Babehli, was booked when he rung up the police to report an altercation taking place near his house while standing on his roof top.SAD leader Ravi Karan Kahlon of  Fatehgarh Churian disclosed how two young boys – Ramanpreet Singh and Sanjeev who were plus two students had been implicated in a false case under section 326. The family said the only fault of the boys was that they had refused to sell part of their land to facilitate a Congress leader who wanted to construct a road through it.Batala legislator Lakhbir Singh Lodhinanagal highlighted several cases of violence and goondagardi by Congress leaders and workers. He said in Batala one Yudhvir Singh was first attacked with sharp edged weapons at this residence and then a false attempt to murder case was registered against him. He said in another case a Congress leader had used an SHO to evict a poor woman Raman Kaur from her one room tenement in Suchetgarh village. In said in yet another case three false cases were registered against Jagroop Singh after the family was attacked in their own home by Congress goons.
