In a goodwill gesture to facilitate government employees with disabilities to discharge their duties seamlessly, the Council of Ministers has decided to amend the Punjab Civil Services Rules, Volume-III to allow travelling allowance in respect of the attendant/escort for accompanying such employees during travel, while on official tour/training.Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister's Office said that this decision was taken at a meeting of Council of Minister presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday. In another decision, CoM also gave ex-post facto approval to the notifications issued under Punjab Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. The state government, in an endeavour to make the existing taxation system dealer friendly and to eliminate its limitations, GST was implemented w.e.f. July 1, 2017.

The CoM also gave approval to the Government Employees (Conduct) Rules (First Amendment) Rules, 2017 thereby changing the classification of posts from Class-I, Class-II, Class-III and Class-IV with Group-A, Group-B, Group-C and Group-D respectively. The CoM also okayed the amended service rules of Group-A, B & C employees of the Town and Country Planning department in the light of its restructuring. The amended service rules will facilitate the direct recruitment of employees and officers, which will provide employment to the unemployed youth of the state besides breaking stagnation in promotions and providing a congenial atmosphere to ensure quick disposal of public cases for achieving planned urban development in the state.
