To make stakeholders aware about the provisions of Goods and Services Tax (GST)Act, a mega workshop cum interactive session was organized here today.The programme was held under the headship of Joint Secretary Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, Sudhanshu Panday.Interacting with the local traders and district administration, the Joint Secretary said that the aim of holding such events was to know the apprehensions, doubts and genuine problems that are anticipated by industries and traders with the implementation of GST in the state.The resource persons, through lectures, explained in detail all the components of the GST Act and the procedures to be followed by stakeholders after its implementation.The stakeholders were asked to go for registration under GST so that their business may not suffer. It was informed that District administration, in cooperation with state commercial taxes and excise department, is conducting regular orientation and awareness programmes on GST Act to acquaint all stakeholders with its provisions.Some basic issues and queries related to the implementation of the act were also discussed threadbare. It was assured by the officers of C & T department that supportive system has been evolved to assist the stakeholders for accessing registration under new GST law. It was also informed that online registration involves a very simple and conceivable process.The workshop was also attended by DDC Ravinder Kumar, Addl. CEO SMVDSB Anshul Garg, Additional Commissioner Commercial Taxes Jammu Anu Malhotra, DC Stamps Bharat Singh, SDM Neelam Khajuria, DTO Jivtesh Singh, SP Sumir Kotwal, Tehsildar Mohit Raina and other officers.
