Stepping up its campaign against repression in the state ( Jabar Virodhi Lehar) the Shiromani Akali Dal to set up  a panel of senior and eminent advocates  of the  Punjab and Haryana High Court as well as advocates from lower courts right down to mofussil levels to ensure that the police officials who carried out repression against Akali workers are made to face the law of the land.Former Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Parkash SIngh Badal today set up the Advocates panel. After holding consultations with a large number of advocates who had been specifically called for an emergency meeting to prepare the party's strategy to fight repression of the congress regime. Former Education minister and SAD spokesperson Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema was also present on the occasion.The party has also started a helpline  and website  which can be accessed asakalivakil.com in this connection to protect party workers against  repression being unleashed by the present Congress governments in the state.Giving these details, party's spokesperson Harcharan Singh Bains said that  the Congress had unleashed a wave of repression and  vendetta against innocent Akali workers at the grass root level.  

He said that the party High Command had already decided to confront this challenge head on. A statewide Jabar Virodhi Lehar is already in progress spearheaded by the party president Sardar Sukhbir SIngh Badal  in which all the senior leaders of the party were also taking part.Former Chief Minister Sardar Pakkash SIngh Badal spent two days at the party headquarters on August 1 and 2 listening to grievances of the party workers on the vendetta unleashed against them. False cases are being registered indiscriminately against Akali workers In a note of warning to the government, Mr Badal said that the akalis had a history of defying the British and fighting   against Emergency and the "present government should be under no illusion that it can brow beat brave akali workers. We will defend every akali worker who faces repression" said the former Chief Minister.Those who have been named on the Akali anti-repression panel are  advocates attended the meeting held at party head office, Chandigarh S. Paramjit Singh Bajwa, S. K.S. Pannu, S. Paramajit Singh Brar, S. Harpreet Singh Rakhra, Sh. Ramsaran Modi, S. PreetInder Singh Dhaliwal, Sh. Mohammed Yousaf and S. Girimer Singh Sandhu.
