District Development Commissioner, Sheetal Nanda, held an interaction with prominent citizens and members from various social and business organizations of Samba town in a meeting here today.ADDC Vivek Sharma, SSP Anil Magotra, ADC Tilak Raj Sharma, ARTO and officials from different engineering departments were also present at the meeting.The citizens put forth their grievances related to water and power supply and highlighted non-adherence to scheduled power cuts by the PDD. They demanded need for repairing water supply infrastructure in the town and irregular supply in certain areas. They also drew attention to industrial pollution, influence of drugs on youngsters, encroachments at market places and other vital issues affecting the residents.
While responding to queries, the DDC asked PDD and PHE departments to respond promptly to public issues and furnish details regarding supply position for whole town within a week’s time. She added that proposal for Common treatment plant for Industrial waste is in advanced stage and the matter is periodically taken up with Pollution Control Board also. She directed EO municipality Samba to ensure cleanliness in the town and remove all encroachments from the market. She also directed Xen PWD to get the potholes of town roads repaired.The participants assured complete cooperation to District Administration for the development and augmentation of the public services in the district.
