Ramban admin intensifies drive against power theft

District Administration, Ramban has intensified the drive against power theft and disconnecting illegal power connections.District Magistrate (DM) Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganai is personally monitoring the drive and so far inspections teams have charged a fine of Rs. 36924 from the defaulters.The combined enforcement teams have been constituted and asked to conduct regular checking especially in overloaded areas to plug the power pilferage and book the defaulters.As per PDD report, a total of 137 inspections have been conducted and Rs 36924 fine realized since the launch of the drive. The department has also regularized 47 connections of 54 KW load during the drive.Meanwhile, the DM has directed to SDMs, Tehsildars and SHOs to extend assistance to power department in the drive to curb illegal domestic and commercial connections, seizing of illegal machines and in taking stringent steps against power theft.He also appealed to the public to register their power connections with department and desist   from misuse of electricity to avoid disconnection of supply, fine and legal proceedings.
