DC Anantnag reviews arrangements for I-Day celebration

The Deputy Commissioner Anantnag today chaired a high level meeting of concerned officers to review the arrangements for smooth conduct of Independence Day celebrations, 2017.The meeting was attended by various District Officers including SSP Anantnag, COs of CRPF, Principal Degree College (Boys), SDMs of Kokernag, Dooru and Bijbehara, SE R&B Anantnag, SE Hydraulic, Exen R&B, PDD and PHE, CEO Anantnag, CMO Anantnag, Deputy Director Fire & Emergency Services, ARTO, District Youth Service & Sports officer besides other district officers.It was given out that the district level function will be held at Government Degree College Boys Anantnag, which will start with Shehnai Waadan followed by unfurling of tricolor by the Chief Guest, who will then inspect the march past and take the salute at the parade. 

The contingents from various wings of J&K Police, Women police, IRP, CRPF, Fire & Emergency, Homeguard, NCC, besides students from various educational institutions of the district shall participate in the march past.

The arrangements with regard to seating arrangements, barricading of venue, drinking water supply, electricity and illumination around the venue, sanitation and other logistics were discussed threadbare during the meeting.It was decided that the march past drill will commence from August 07, 2017. Besides, various committees overseeing different activities for August 15, 2017 celebrations were also constituted.The arrangements for shamiyana and other seating arrangements shall be made by R&B Department while PHE Department was entrusted with barricading the venue.The Exen PDD was directed to ensure back up power supply and PHE Department was directed to keep potable water tankers available at the venue.Regarding cleanliness and sanitation in and around the venue, Deputy Commissioner directed the CEO MC Anantnag to ensure proper arrangements. Meanwhile, the Deputy Director Fire and Emergency was directed to keep the fire tenders available at the venue. A mock drill for mitigating any situation shall also be conducted during the coming days.The Chief Medical Officer was directed to keep ready two ambulances with doctors and paramedical staff along with adequate life saving drugs at the venue on the day.Similar functions will be held at Sub Divisions of Pahalgam, Dooru, Kokernag, Bijbehara and Tehsil headquarters across the district. All the concerned SDMs and Tehsildars were directed to make necessary arrangements for the purpose.
