The Education Department, Punjab, has decided to shift 28 senior lecturers of 11 Government In-Service Training Centers (GIST) as Principals against vacant posts in the Government Senior Training Centers. Disclosing this in a Statement here today, the Education Minister Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary said that the P.E.S. officers serving as Senior Lecturers in the Government In-Service Training Centers do not have much work on their hands as the training programme is already in progress in the DIETs.  The minister further said that many Government Senior Secondary Schools in the State are functioning sans Principals which explains why the decision has been taken to shift 28 Senior Lecturers in the vacant schools. Giving more details, the minister said that 4 Senior Lecturers would be shifted as Principals in Amritsar, 3 each in Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala with 2 each in Faridkot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Ropar and Sangrur.Mrs. Chaudhary further said that these 28 Senior Lecturers would be shifted against vacant posts in accordance with their choice so as to ensure the smooth running of the schools. The minister also said that whereas the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh is fully committed to provide quality education to the students, it is also equally committed to better utilization of the current staff by shifting those officers/employees against vacant posts who are serving in the additional posts.
