Speaker pays floral tributes to martyrs of Kargil War

‘Govt working tirelessly for welfare of martyr families’

Speaker Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Kargil war saying their sacrifices will be remembered by the country in all ages to come. “Sacrifices of the soldiers who fought for the pride of the nation will always be remembered by the countrymen for all ages to come,” the Speaker asserted while speaking at a seminar.The seminar ‘National Security and Role of Indian Armed forces viz-a-viz Citizens of India’ was organized by Forum for Awareness of National Security (FANS)  to mark  the 18th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.Hailing the victory of Indian Army in the Kargil war, the Speaker applauded the contribution of army and other armed forces in protecting the borders. He saluted the valour of the soldiers for defending the nation and coming out victorious and giving a befitting defeat to the enemy for its evil designs. Asserting that India has emerged a powerful nation, he said entire credit for what the country  has achieved today goes to the soldiers of the country. Felicitating the parents of martyrs and war widows, the Speaker described them as the unsung heroes of the nation. He said that the government is tirelessly working for the welfare of families of martyrs by launching various schemes and policies.

Meanwhile, Kavinder appreciated the organizers for visualizing various aspects of National security not only in terms of need to defend the country’s borders but also the larger Human Security perspective including Internal, Economic and Social security.Stressing on mass participation of citizens in National Security, the Speaker said that every individual has to realize that it is his concern as well and not just of the men in uniform. He urged the youth to work for the welfare of the nation and contribute towards its development.Later, floral tributes were paid to the martyrs of the war and candles were lit in their honour.  A  Patriotic play was also presented by children reflecting the role of the national heroes.Chief Patron FANS, Indresh Kumar, Air Marshal ( Retd.),Dr.R.C. Bajpai,Lt.Gen. (Retd.),R.N.SINGH,Ex.MLA , Ashwani Sharma and War Veterans besides  various dignities were present on the occasion.Later, Speaker visited Dogra Shaurya Sathal, Amphalla and paid homage to the martyrs of the war. Members of Freedom Fighters Association were also present on the occasion.
