Education Department Decides To Delegate Powers At Lower Level

The Punjab Government has in a landmark decision decided to delegate powers at lower level to swiftly dispose off the cases pertaining to the completion of probation period of newly appointed and promoted teachers. This was disclosed by the Education Minister  Aruna Chaudhary here today in a statement.The minister further said that the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is fully committed to implement employee and teacher friendly decisions and the latest decision is in keeping with the large number of teachers in the Education Department. Detailing more, the minister said that it has been brought to her notice despite completing their probation period, the cases related to the probation periods of the teachers are pending in various offices awaiting disposal.

Mrs. Chaudhary also said that now it has been decided that instead of at the appointing authority level, the disposal of probation cases would be effected at the level of Principal/Headmaster, Block Primary Education Officer and District Education Officer by delegating them requisite powers. The minister further said that the powers concerning disposal of probation cases have been delegated to the officer in whose office the service record of the concerned employee exists.The minister also added that the powers to dispose off the probation cases are delegated to the lower level on the condition that the Annual Confidential Reports (ACR) do not have any adverse remarks, no chargesheet or departmental action is pending against the employee, no chargesheet is pending and neither any criminal case, performance and character of the employee must be impeccable besides fulfilling of the conditions as specified in the appointment letter.
