On the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Deputy Chief Minister Dr.Nirmal Singh met Ex-Servicemen at Sainik Welfare Department here today.The Deputy Chief Minister said that it is the prime responsibility of the Government to look after the welfare of ex-servicemen and their dependents.On the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister listened patiently to the various issues of ex-servicemen and assured them to redress the grievances put forth by ex-servicemen in a comprehensive manner.Acknowledging the sacrifices made by soldiers, Dr. Singh said that the Centre, as well as the State Government, is determined to support the war widows and Ex-servicemen in every possible manner. He said that the Government will always safeguard their interests.He assured that a recruitment policy for Ex-servicemen children will come into force. He said that the Government will launch various scholarship schemes for their welfare. Direct benefit will be provided to the beneficiaries, he added.The Deputy Chief Minister also inspected the ongoing construction of new building complex of the Sainik Welfare Department.Later, he also chaired a meeting with senior functionaries of the Department.Director, Sainik Welfare Department Jammu, Brig. Harcharan Singh and senior functionaries of Sainik Welfare Department besides a large number of ex-servicemen were present on the occasion.
