DDC Kathua chairs meeting with industrialists, traders on GST

In order to ensure smooth switching of business to GST regime, District Development Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar, today held a meeting with Industrialists and traders here today.DDC, while interacting with business stakeholders, said that the aim was to know the apprehensions, doubts and genuine problems that are anticipated by industries and traders with the implementation of GST law in the state.The DDC exhorted upon the industrialists and traders to go for registration under GST before the cutoff date of 15 august 2017 so that their business shall not be affected. He said district administration in cooperation with state commercial taxes and excise department will organize orientation programmes on GST Act to acquaint all stakeholders with its provisionsThe industrialists and traders also highlighted their issues and queries related to the implementation of act. They also apprised their apprehensions related to special package to the state industries, exemption of toll tax etc. DDC assured that all their highlighted issues will be taken up with the higher authorities so that any policy decision can be look into while reviewing the progress of transition into GST in the state.Earlier in the meeting, Commercial Tax Officer Kathua Gurpinder Singh through power point presentation threw light on various provisions incorporated in the GST act. He also took queries of industrialist and traders and briefed them the new provision made under different disciplines of business transactions. GM DIC Kathua Rajinder Sharma, Heads of Kathua Industrial Associations Ajit Bawa, Davinder Verma, heads of industrial units, Traders and members of Beopar Mandal attended the meeting.
