Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today laid the foundation stones of various road projects in Baramulla district. She also inaugurated the 16 lakh MGD water supply scheme for Sopore also.The Chief Minister laid the foundation of Zehenpora-Shahdara road at Chahal which would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 20 crore and would be completed within two years.The Chief Minister directed developing the local pond into a tourist attraction and also develop a park there.At Gingel, Mehbooba Mufti laid the foundation of Gingel-Bijihama-Lachipora road which would come up at a cost of Rs. 21 crore.With this, Uri town would have an alternative national highway link from Baramulla and on completion these road stretches would provide seamless connectivity between Baramulla and Uri.The Chief Minister directed completion of these road projects within the stipulated time schedule adding that she would be monitoring the completion of these projects which she said would give the area better connectivity thus leading to more economic activity and better social integration.

It was disclosed on the occasion that Centre has approved widening of National Highway from Narbal to Baramulla upto Uri and the DPRs for the same are being readied.Minister for R&B, Naeem Akhtar; Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rohit Kansal; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan and senior officers of district administration were present on the occasion.At Watlab, Mehbooba Mufti laid the foundation of upgradation of Watlab-Chetkak road which would be completed within two years.The 14 kilometres road would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 14 crore and would be taken up under CRF.MLA, Sopore, Haji Abdul Rasheed and other senior officers were present on the occasion.At Shrakwara, the Chief Minister inaugurated 16 lakh MGD Rapid Sand Filtration Plant which would address the potable drinking water needs of Sopore town by a great measure. Built at a cost of Rs. 33 crore, the gravity scheme would address the long pending demand of people of Sopore town.

On the demand of the locals, the Chief Minister directed development of a park and raising of hutments so that tourism in the area gets a boost.Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Shyam Choudhary; Minister for Horticulture,  Syed Basharat Bukhari; Minister for R&B, Naeem Akhtar were present on the occasion.Enroute, people at Nijibhat met the Chief Minister in large number and demanded upgradation of a local school and local road. The Chief Minister assured the people to look into the demands.Later, Mehbooba Mufti laid the foundation of Choora-Burzwachan-Dardpora road. The road would pass through Tilgam, Authoora and Bulgam connecting these villages with Pattan and Sangrama directly.To be constructed at a cost of Rs. 15 crore, the project is expected to be completed by July, 2019.Mehbooba Mufti also sought an appraisal for building a hospital on the adjacent Custodian land.Minister for Horticulture,  Syed Basharat Bukhari; Minister for R&B, Naeem Akhtar; Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rohit Kansal; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan were present on the occasion.
