The Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (HPB & OCWWB) would bear all the expenses including tuition fee, boarding and lodging charges of the children of the registered workers of the Board who would get selected in MBBS, B. Tech, MBA, MCA and LLB courses in government institutions. This was decided in the 33rd meeting of the Board under the chairmanship of Industries and Labour and Employment Minister Mukesh Agnihotri here today.Speaking on the occasion, Shri Agnihotri said that although Board was providing various benefits in the field of education to the beneficiaries, this decision would go a long way in motivating the children of the workers to get selected in these professional courses.Shri Agnihotri said that in order to provide better and hygienic working environment to the construction workers, mobile toilets would be installed near the construction sites. He said that the Board would outsource the maintenance of these toilets to some professional agencies. He said that the Board was providing induction heaters to the construction workers. He said that in case any construction worker registered with Board does not have regular LPG connection, the Board would provide him with stove and cylinder as one time benefit provided he completes basic formalities.
The Minister said that the Skill Development Training Institute at Palakwah in district Una being constructed by spending an amount of Rs. 18 crore nearing completion and once the institute is completed it would provide skill training to registered workers, their spouses and two children. He said that this institute would provide career oriented training suitable for the industries.Shri Agnihotri said that the Board should hire more agents on parallel rate contract for ensuring timely delivery of bicycles being provided by the Board to the beneficiaries. He directed the officers of the Board to work with missionary zeal to ensure welfare of the working class.Chairman, H.P. Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Bawa Hardeep Singh welcomed the Chief Guest and detailed various activities being undertaken by the Board.Non official members of the Board also gave their valuable suggestions in the meeting.Chief Executive Officer of the Board Ms. Joyti Rana conducted the proceedings of the meeting.Special Secretary, Labour and Employment Capt. J.M. Pathania and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
