The Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly met here today under the Chairmanship of Mohammad Akbar Lone to review the functioning and examine the Audit Paras pertaining to Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department.Legislators, Mr. Javid Mustaffa Mir, Mtr. Shamim Firdous, Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Mr. Abdul Rashid Dar, Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Shah and Mr. Ghulam Nabi Monga also present in the meeting.Reviewing the functioning of the department, the Committee observed that deserving beneficiaries are not getting benefit of Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY). It directed the concerned for preparing afresh list so that deserving candidates are covered under the Yojana. It also sought details of model villages developed and being developed in the state.Calling for judicious use of funds, the Committee stressed on executing the works as per the specifications and guidelines of the Union Government. Fix the responsibility on officers who have dumped the construction material unnecessarily in the stores, the Committee maintained. Accountant General (Audit) H. Abbas also briefed the Committee about various audit paras pertaining to Rural Development Department.After threadbare discussion, the Committee dropped some audit paras of CAG Report 2001-02.Among others, Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development Department & Panchayati Raj, Mrs. Nirmal Sharma, Mission Director, JKSRLM, Bakshi Javed, Director, Rural Development, Kashmir Gazanfar Ali, Director, Rural Development, Jammu R. K. Bhat, Additional Secretary, K K Sidha, besides other senior officers of the Department and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
