S. J. M Gillani, Director Vigilance, met Governor N.N. Vohra, here today at the Raj Bhavan.Sh. Gillani, who recently took over charge as Director Vigilance, apprised the Governor about the present status of the work being done by the State Vigilance Organization; the pendency of cases; reasons for delay in the finalization of enquiries; which include the indifference of the concerned Departments in furnishing the related records of cases and the long delays, resulting from stay orders passed by the High Court in regard to cases under investigations; delays in the production of Challans; delays in the proceedings in the Trial Courts; inadequacy of staff in the Prosecution Offices of the recently created Anti Corruption Courts; and SVC Rules 2013 not being in consonance with the SVC Act, 2011.Governor advised Sh. Gillani to continue making vigorous efforts to ensure the finalization of cases in the shortest possible time frame, without any fear or favour, and observed that he would be discussing these matters with the Chief Minister.
