A group of landlords from Shalteng area of Srinagar city Monday staged a protest here in Press Enclave alleging that an ‘influential’ government employee has blocked the road leading towards their agriculture land as a result they are neither unable to use the land for agricultural produce nor are they are able to sell it.Scores of landlords including Abdul Aziz Najar, Fayaz Ahmed Khan, Abdul Ahad Khan, Ghulam Qadir Shiekh and others emerged here in Press Enclave Srinagar. Carrying placards, these landlords alleged that one Muhammad Saleem Jan, an employee at Government Civil Secretariat has been threatening them of dire consequences in case they raise voice against him. They said that the said government employee using the name of police and bureaucrats is trying to grab the land that belongs to them. The protesting landlords claimed that they are in possession of audio recording of that government employee in which he is threatening them and even saying that he will shoot them dead. “We had sold our land measuring 3 kanals and 18 marlas to him. Instead of Rs 60 lakh, he paid only Rs 53 lakh and asserted ownership over the piece of the land. He not only refused to pay us the remaining amount but blocked the road leading towards our land. It is a frustrating situation for us as we are unable to visit our land,” the protesting landlords told CNS.“We approached to Police but no action was initiated against him. He is using the name of Bureaucrats and Police officers and pressurizing us to keep our mouth shut. We appeal DGP and IGP to look into the matter,” they said. (CNS)
