District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz today convened a meeting to review the development of 100 play fields and 100 parks in the district.The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, District Panchayat Officer, Executive engineer (REW), Chief Education Officer and District Youth Services & Sports Officer.Speaking on the occasion DDC said, “Playgrounds often act as focal points for the community, providing a meeting area for youth and parents alike. They offer a place for children to play and forge new friendships, while ensuring they remain healthy and active”. He also said that playgrounds play an important role in the social and language development of children along with their physical and mental development.Adding that parks play a significant role in the reduction of Urban Heat Island effect, DDC said that plantation of trees in and around the parks will absorb much heat and will reduce summer temperatures.DDC also said that the bad effects of increasing pollution on the lives of people can be mitigated via development of more parks in our vicinity.DDC stressed upon concerned officers to chalk out a detailed plan so that the playgrounds and parks are established within a stipulated time frame. He gave directions to ACD and District Panchayat Officer to organize 97 Gram Sabhas/Youth Convention in a single day in this regard so that a consensus may be built up by involving public in development of these durable and tangible assets of public utility.
