Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was not allowed to offer Eid prayers for the seventh consecutive year as he continues to be under house arrest for the last 4 days. Mirwaiz spoke over the phone and shed light on the philosophy of Eid Ul fitr he also presented a memorandum on behalf of the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.While felicitating the people of Kashmir and entire Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr the leadership saluted the people of J&K for their resilience and steadfastness towards “on-going freedom struggle.” Mirwaiz is under house detention at his Nigeen residence, while Syed Ali Geelani continues to remain caged at his Hydepora residence. JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik has been lodged in Central Jail Srinagar.The resolution reads that joint resistance leadership expresses solidarity and sympathy with the families of those whose dear ones were killed, and those whose sons are languishing in various jails across India. “We are with those whose eyes are moist on this day of auspicious occasion,” the resolution reads.

The resolution termed the NIA raids on the houses of pro-freedom leaders and a few Kashmiri business men as illegal and maintained that these are new ploys being used by New Delhi to defame the freedom struggle of Kashmir which is based on truth and priceless sacrifices. “If such raids doesn’t stop, there will be serious repercussions and the entire responsibility will lie on the State government and Delhi itself,” it reads.The resolution further read that Kashmir’s pro-freedom leadership makes it clear that they stand with the Muslim brethren of Jammu region and all the designs aimed at created a regional or communal wedge will be defeated.“In no case, whatever happened in 1947, will not be allowed to repeat,” the resolution reads.The resolution also expressed solidarity with all the political prisoners who are languishing in various jails for no fault and also with those who were framed in fake cases.“We strongly condemn the government decision of not releasing the Kashmiri prisoners on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr,” the resolution reads.The Joint redid leadership urged the international community and other world human rights organizations to build pressure on Delhi so that rising war crimes and unabated rights abuses are stopped forthwith in Kashmir. The resolution also read that the leadership is duty bound to take the movement of right to self-determination to its logical conclusion. (KNS)
