Punjab Congress legislators today lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party and the Shiromani Akali Dal for indulging into ‘competitive hooliganism’ inside the Punjab Vidhan Sabha where they, by turns, tried to jump the security cordon in an aborted attempt to assault the Speaker and misbehaved with the watch and ward staff, particularly the female members. The legislators also took a dig at former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for trying to shed crocodile tears for the AAP legislators who were feigning injuries.“The opposition parties simply could not digest the fact that the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh actually did what he had committed and hence they resorted to competitive hooliganism to divert the attention”, several Congress legislators said in a joint statement issued here today.“The AAP and the Akalis were feeling frustrated and dumbfound over the historic decisions taken by Capt Amarinder, including farmers’ loan waiver and Rs 5 per unit power tariff, and just to divert attention they had now stooped so low to hog the headlines”, they said, while adding, “the AAP and Akalis were involved in a ‘space war’ in the media and were resorting to all foul means”.

The legislators including, Darshan Singh Brar, Ramanjit Singh Sikki, Harminder Singh Gill, Kulbeer Singh Zira and Balwinder Singh Laddi, said the AAP and the Akalis were taking turns to disrupt the proceedings of the house so that the historic decisions taken by the government could not be passed in the Vidhan Sabha. The MLAs hailed the wise decision of the Speaker Rana KP Singh to marshal the erring legislators out of the house as they were trying to hold everybody to ransom. “AAP is known for spreading anarchy and lawlessness and they lived by their reputation inside the Vidhan Sabha also by not only trying to disrupt the proceedings, but even attempting an assault on the Speaker”, the legislators pointed out.The Congress leaders also ridiculed the former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s crocodile tears he tried to shed for the AAP legislators who were feigning injuries and had got themselves admitted in the hospital. The Congress leaders wondered as how Mr Badal, who did not attend the session even for a day, managed time and energy to rush to the hospital to participate in the AAP legislators’ breast beating over something that had never happened.
