Jammu and Kashmir Employees Joint Action Committee (Third front) Tuesday staged protest against the government for ‘failing to release the wages of casual labours and adopting pick and choose policy under SRO’.The protesting EJAC members assembled at Srinagar’s Pres Enclave and chanted slogans ‘we want justice’.They were demanding government to release the wages of casual labours immediately.Ghulam Rasool Geelani, General Secretary of EJAC said, “The government has failed to release the monthly honorarium of the casual labours working in different departments. Leavening employees to suffer in the holy month Ramadhan is shame for the state government.” Appealing the government to release the wages of casual labours at earliest, he said, “The government must release the wages of the casual labours before EID. We will launch agitation against the government in case it fails to release their wages at earliest,” he said.He also said that government assured them that they will issue SRO regularization policy but unfortunately, the government has failed to implement it thereby leaving the employees to suffer.Geelani also said that the government has adopted the pick and choose regularization policy, which should be stopped at earliest. “We condemn the pick and choose policy,” he added. However, the protesters later dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
