Kargil continues to protest against shaky and unreliable services provided by State owned telecommunication company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.The protests against the BSNL in the region are spearheaded by Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Kargil.Ever since the inception of mobile services in Kargil, the subscribers have been facing tough time while in a unique protest few years back, the subscribers of BSNL connections broke and buried their SIM cards.Kargil people are not happy with Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi’s boasting about Digital India. “They boast about Digital India while in Kargil, BSNL is virtually dead. It is a company by name only,” locals of Kargil believe.“Whenever you bring the poor service issue into the notice of BSNL officials, they come up with only excuse- Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) has broken down. Chairman IKMT Shiekh Hussain Lufti says the government is celebrating the three years of achievement program across country including Kargil but Digital India is an open failure of their government in Kargil. He reminded prime minister of his promise to develop “Kargil like Kutch”. (CNS)
