Minister for Information and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today asked the officers of PHE department to complete the leftover works on Ans Water Supply Scheme (WSS) in Darhal, Rajouri and make it functional by the end of this month.These instructions were issued during a meeting convened to review the progress of works undertaken by the department in Rajouri district.Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Chief Engineer, PHE Susheel Aima, Chief Engineer, I&FC Rajeev Gandotra and other senior officers of Planning Department and PHE, I&FC department were present in the meeting.The meeting had deliberation on various ongoing works on Water Supply Schemes in Kandi Kanjer, Dhankote, Raki Ban, Tota Dodaj, Tar Kassi, Larkuti, Gadyoge, Bela Keri, Kanthol, Sokar Prori, Swari-II, Khah/Jamola, Simbli (Naka Chowkian), Kurhad, Delhari, Nadian, Mohla Palana Dhama, Gundha, Chambi Trar, Moh. Sankari and Peeri Gagrote (Kumhar).

Zulfkar Ali asked the officers to complete the leftover works on WSS Larkuti under convergence mode for augmenting water supply in the area. He further said that filtration plant should be constructed on WSS Delhari and directed for transferring WSS Peeri Gagrote (Kumhar) under NABARD.It was informed in the meeting that the main Ans canal having a discharge of 120 cusecs and distributary channel of 43 km would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 85.57 crore.Earlier, PHE Minister visited BSF Post Durga Tower at Makwal. He was informed that the rise in level of water in Nikki Tawi enters the agricultural land near International Border and causes damage to human lives, livestock and property.The Minister asked for preparation of DPR for flood protection works on Nikki Tawi under BADP for submission to Ministry of Home Affairs after getting approval from State Level Sanctioning Committee (SLSC). He also directed the Chief Engineer, I&FC to maintain liaison with BSF officers to deal with any exigency.Later, Sham Lal Choudhary inaugurated public park at Layiony in Village Chanduchak constructed by Rural Development Department in convergence mode at an estimated cost of Rs 52 lakh.
