District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Talat Parvez Ruhella, today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Health Department and implementation of Integrated Child Development Services Scheme (ICDS) in the district.The DDC stressed the Officers of ICDS to integrate their services with the Health Department to target the vulnerable section of society including children and pregnant women.To make VHND'S more effective and public friendly, the DDC directed the Health and ICDS officers to create massive awareness among the people about the value of health and nutrition. He suggested that a team of health counselors be deputed for the same. The DDC directed them to distribute iron, folic acid & vitamin tablets besides pamphlets and job aids in these camps.The meeting designated District Asha Coordinator & District Health Officer as nodal officers for effectively monitoring the schemes under ICDS and Health so that public gets benefitted.
The DDC directed the counselors to make use of visual aids including charts and job aids to motivate the beneficiaries about health issues.He also sought rejuvenation of Rogi Kalyan Samitis and Village Health & Sanitation Committees at Block level.Regarding ICDS, the meeting was informed that about 40 zonal centres are being developed as model ones where every facility would be provided to the beneficiaries. The DDC asked the ICDS officials to get involved in Public Service delivery.Earlier, the CMO Kulgam gave a detailed presentation about the functioning and implementation of different schemes including NHM, RBSK, NPCDCS, COB, NMHP, NLEP, and IDSP.The meeting was attended by ADC, CMO, DPO ICDS, Deputy CMO, DIO, BMOs, CDPOs and Health counselors.
