A deputation of United Forum of Newspaper Editors, Kashmir led by Mr G H Kaloo called on the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh here today and projected several issues. The issues pertaining  to  the alleged disparity  in the distribution of  the advertisements  and  inclusion of  their representatives in the  Accreditation  Committee. They alleged that the major chunk of the advertisement budget of around Rs 30 crore per annum goes into the kitty of a selected group of newspapers while the others are left high and dry. They said that no newspaper in the State can survive without the financial support of the Government and the Information Department should ensure that all the newspapers get adequate financial support in a judicious and transparent manner. The Deputy Chief Minister while interacting with the association assured them that all their genuine issues would be redressed in a time bound manner.  He also asked them to come up with a comprehensive proposal related to their demands so that the same could be examined and action initiated on them. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary Information department Mr. M H Malik, Joint Director Information Kashmir, Mr Zahoor Ahmad Mir and other senior officers of the Department.
