District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash, today chaired a District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting here to review the progress of banks as on March 31, 2017, in the district.Officers of Line Departments, representatives of RBI and NABARD and other concerned officials attended the meeting.The meeting reviewed the progress and achievements made by the banks in implementing various government-sponsored schemes.On the occasion, the DDC was informed that under the District Credit Plan 2016-17, the district has recorded an achievement of 73.91% as on March 31, 2017. It was also informed that 55,108 beneficiaries benefited under the plan and an amount of Rs. 1460.63 crore has been disbursed among them under various schemes, including Rs. 907.26 crore under agriculture sector, Rs. 142.37 crore under small enterprise sector, Rs. 22.29 crore under service sector and Rs. 388.71 crore under non-priority sector.The DDC said that banks and various financial institutions in the district must play their role for the economic progress of the district and emphasized the need for making the national mission of cashless economy possible in the district. He impressed upon the officers to work in coordination to make the digital payment system a success in the district. He also stressed on organizing awareness programmes at the village level to generate awareness among the people about the use of cashless transactions.
